The John Cliffe Memorial Summer House opened officially . . . .

On Tuesday evening, July 14th, over 100 people attended the official opening of
The John Cliffe Memorial Summer House at the Newbottle and Charlton Primary school in Green Lane, Charlton.

John Cliffe was the Head Teacher at the school from 1982 until he died suddenly in January 2007.
He loved the school, the village, and its people, and his untimely passing was a great shock and caused deep sadness and grief
to all who knew him.

A Memorial Committee was formed and in June 2008 a Memorial Ball was held to raise money for an outdoor classroom/Summer House for the children as this was a project close to John's heart, as he always wanted some outdoor covered area for the children.
A fantastic evening was enjoyed by many people who attended the Ball, and the project was launched!.

The Summer House is a wonderful asset to the School and will provide many opportunities for the children.

It was built by local carpenter, Mr Mark Brown (pictured below).
