Charlton Cherries Unfortunately disbanded early 2008, but the webpage still exists. Charlton Mums 'n' Tots Unfortunately disbanded early 2004 Charlton Table Tennis Club The Charlton Table Tennis Club was started in 1994 and sessions took place every other Monday during school term at the Memorial Hall, finishing at 8.30 pm. - Sessions were run light-hearted allowing children to play together in a supervised atmosphere and were aimed at children aged 8 years and over, although younger children are welcome with parental supervision. - Unfortunately the club closed in 2003, but rumour has it we could see it restart again soon! The Shukokia Karate Club The Shukokia Karate Club was established in Charlton in 1996 under the expert guidance of Paul Ledbury (2nd Dan, Black Belt) The pupils have to take 10 belts in various colours until they reach Black Belt status, this takes at least four years to achieve. The Club met in the Memorial Hall and entered two tournaments each year and usually comes back with a haul of trophies. Unfortunately, the club closed in 2000 Short Mat Bowls Club Unfortunately this group no longer exists in the village but was very active from 1992 and met weekly as well as travelling to other clubs for games and competitions. The Club must be one of a few that can boast being Runners-Up in the annual Christmas Knock-Out hosted at Middleton Cheney with four members of the 5 man team all being under the age of 10! Billiards Club The Memorial Hall used to be the home of a very active Billiards Club that was one of the very few in the area that had it's own full sized billiards table! Formed back in the 1940's the Club was regular winners and runners-up of the South Northants Billiards League, but unfortunately closed in the early 1980's email: webmaster@charlton-cum-newbottle.co.uk |
