Northamptonshire Police is reminding members of the public that the non-emergency telephone number to call is 03000 111 222. The force switched to the new number, which is for all non-emergency matters, on 6 May 2009. People can call 03000 111 222 at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The old telephone numbers have been gradually phased out to enable people to get used to the new number, and have still been connecting people to the police. As of the end of this month however, anybody calling the old 700 700 numbers will hear an 'unobtainable' tone. As well as non-emergency calls, people can call 03000 111 222 when they need to speak to their local Safer Community Team or to seek advice on any police matter. People should only call 999 in an emergency, when a life is at risk or a crime is in progress. All other calls for police assistance or advice should be made to 03000 111 222.
