Northamptonshire Animals Needing Nurturing and Adoption Trustees: Mr & Mrs MJ Alderman, Ms. EA Buckingham, Miss CMM Alderman - Registered Charity No. 1115238
NANNA is a voluntary run rescue and rehoming organisation that was set up to help as many animals as we can find new homes and start life afresh.
We home-visit before placing the animal with their new family; the animal is also neutered, micro-chipped and checked before leaving us. All of this costs money, on average the cost to our organisation is £60.00 per cat brought into us, £40.00 per rabbit (although we do not spay our female rabbits, we do castrate all males and the rabbits are then paired up before being rehomed). In our care we also have ferrets, rats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, degus, chinchillas, chipmunks, chickens ducks, geese, hedgehogs and many more animals all looking for new families to call their own, but sadly some do not find new homes for what ever reason. These little characters cost our organisation money for their welfare and upkeep, we try to give them the very best of everything during their stay with us. NANNA rely on the donations given to us from the general public; this can come in many forms. Money of course is very important and that is why we ask for minimum donations for the animals being rehomed and where possible we also ask for a donation when we take in animals from the general public. Another donation we need is time.....we need as many volunteers to help us care for the animals, to help raise funds for our cause and of course we need people who can organise and support us in other ways. We also need bedding, food and eqiupment to maintain our high standard of care. At NANNA we strive to improve our facilities all the time and value your comments on where and how we can make changes to achieve these aims. Thank you for your support, why not come and see the animals in our care? You may find what you are looking for. We are here to offer advice; we can not make you act on our advice but please remember we have the experience and the knowledge about the animal you are looking at. The animal's welfare must come first and foremost. If for any reason we have offended you we apologise!...but it is better that the animals stays with us, rather than come back to us! Remember -a happy home is one that offers shelter to a friend -is yours a happy home? For further information contact Anne Buckingham on 01295 811320
Thank you to everyone who has supported NANNA with contributions and assistance.
Since February 8th this year we have re-homed or taken in care 278 animals (not counting wild birds), fowl (chickens, geese & ducks dumped over the bird flu scare). Adopted animals go to homes that are vetted. All animals are neutered and micro-chipped, where suitable. Here, in Charlton, there are several older cats in need of a new home. Four hand-reared hedgehogs have been released and baby birds are coming in daily (2006 update)
I still have oodles of cats that need homes, all shapes, colours, sizes and ages! Petriana has kittens available and Chrissy has ferrets. Thank you everyone who has contributed food, donations, equipment and bedding.
Also those who have helped at events like the Open Garden at Charlton House and the sadly rained out Bring and Buy. Since January £1,378 have been raised and many animals rehomed or cared for. (August 2005 update) email: webmaster@charlton-cum-newbottle.co.uk |
