Around 27 per cent of the 999 calls made to Northamptonshire Police last year were not police emergencies but many of them came from people in a real crisis that needed help to find a plumber, chemist or electrician out-of-hours for example. Boing operates a 24-hour service, seven days a week.

Tree Warden Scheme - In 1989 the County Council asked all Parishes to join the Tree Warden Scheme, this new voluntary scheme appealed to John Williams of Cartright Road, Charlton. Who was appointed by our Parish Council.
John's job was to gather information, observe and record details about tree species, age and condition, give advice on trees showing signs of ill health or becoming dangerous through decay, and ensure observance of Tree Preservation Orders and Planning Consents which require trees to be retained as Charlton is a conservation area.
